For the treatment of newborns and pregnant women, the most appropriate osteopathic therapy is biodynamic therapy.
Biodynamic Therapy
What is biodynamics?
It is an osteopathic approach developed by the renowned American scholar James Jealous, D.O., a passionate student of the therapeutic process as a method for restoring health.
Biodynamics is based on the possibility of activating the body’s capacity to heal and regulate itself through its homeostasis and reparative processes.
Biodynamics represents a philosophical concept grounded in scientific reality, meaning it considers the intrauterine development of the human being as an expression of the individual’s vital forces in relation to the external environment. These embryological forces continue to manifest correctly even in adulthood in the form of internal micro-movements of the tissues, until a distortion modifies their intrinsic movement.
How the therapy works
The therapist can trigger the therapeutic response and amplify the patient’s healing processes, which will resolve inflammation, pain, and any blockages in the autonomic nervous system.
Biodynamic treatment begins through synchronization between practitioner and patient, in which the rhythm and force of the body’s movement are listened to, particularly its fluid component.
When is treatment necessary?
Over the years, the mechanical forces exerted by the body through repeated efforts and sustained traumas modify its original functioning; from these, an inflammatory response is triggered, perceived as discomfort, pain, weakness, and general swelling.
The goal of biodynamic therapy is to return the human being to their primordial state of balance and wholeness, and it is precisely in that situation of absence of tensions that healing will emerge.
Jim Jealous's method
To use a more complete description, Jim Jealous defines his method as follows:
“Biodynamic therapy consists in the ability to see Spirit, Soul, and Body as a Whole, and in synchronizing all these aspects of the human being.
The treatment is not subdivided and does not seek to destroy the disease (allopathic) but supports the health of the Whole.
I chose this concept because it describes well the influence of the surrounding environment in the person’s healing process. We live beneath the sea of Primary Respiration, and there we find health.”
How did patients improve?
Dr. James Jealous recounts how he has seen remarkable changes in patients as their original Self emerges, and their sense of well-being expands.
He explains how biodynamics manages to lead the patient to discover their own Health. The treatment requires skill, correct thinking, mental discipline, and patience.
For this very reason, the biodynamic training path requires nine years of education and extensive experience.
